All around the world, May 31st is observed as World No Tobacco Day to bring attention to the scrouge of tobacco. 8 million lives are lost every year due to tobacco usage. That’s also equivalent to losing 8 million customers for the tobacco industry.
So how do they continue to stay profitable?
By targeting a new generation, ofcourse.
This year’s theme brings attention to these ploys employed by the tobacco industry, to woo the new gen.
It becomes important for us as healthcare professionals to join the growing voice of dissent and be a part of the #TobaccoExposed campaign.
We had a poster contest for our students based on the same theme. We received a great response with about 50 entries and chose the best 3 with a special mention. We appreciate all the efforts put in by our students and are sure the exercise made them more aware of things, as they are.
Congratulations to all the winners.
Let’s all pledge to remain tobacco free, today and always.
