There is a certain magic in new beginnings. A clean slate, a fresh page, a new start. Yesterday the faculty of Krishnadevaraya College of Dental Sciences got together to mark that magical day in the lives of our brand new students, the BDS Batch of 2019. The Orientation Ceremony began on an auspicious note by invoking the Lord and lighting the lamp of wisdom, followed by Our Principal Dr Ponnanna welcoming them warmly to the family of KCDS. Dr Sudhakar, Reader, Dept of Oral Pathology gave the new students an insight into the Local Guardian Scheme, reassuring the students and their parents, of the robust and comprehensive care that will be taken by the faculty. The White Coat Ceremony, the highlight of the program, where students receive their white coat, from Heads of the Department, beginning their foray into the professional world of dentistry. Dr Mansi, Reader in the Dept of Public Health Dentistry, addressed the new students about the significance of the white coat and the responsibilities of wearing it.
The students, after receiving their white coat, introduced themselves, convincing the faculty that it is going to be an entertaining and enjoyable ride for the next 5 years of teaching and learning dentistry. Ashwin, our final year BDS student, gave all of them a peek into what the next 4 years of their life would look like. The proceedings came to an end with Mr Mishra, guardian of one of our new students, giving his feedback about the college and their experience.
We would like to thank Dr Murali, HOD, Public Health Dentistry and his team for organizing the Orientation Program in a flawless manner. We also want to place on record our gratitude to Dr Ponnanna for always finding new ways of contributing to the all round development of the students.
We wish all our new students good luck and welcome them to the KCDS family.
